Guns N Roses drummer kicks heroin!

Former Guns N' Roses drummer Steven Adler pleaded no contest on Friday to a heroin possession charge in the hopes of avoiding jail time by entering a treatment program, officials said.

Adler, 43, who was fired from the band over drug problems in 1990, also hopes to reunite with his old bandmates, said his attorney, Barry Gerald Sands.

"When he gets sober they'll accept him into the band and then they'll do a comeback album and a world tour, that's the dream of Steven Adler," Sands told Reuters, after an upbeat Adler entered his plea in Los Angeles Superior Court.

A representative from Guns N' Roses could not immediately be reached for comment.

Guns N' Roses on November 23 will release the long awaited album "Chinese Democracy," a project lead singer Axl Rose has shepherded through a revolving cast of musicians for years.

Adler is scheduled to appear in court on December 12 to determine if he is eligible for drug treatment instead of jail.

If Adler enters drug treatment, his misdemeanor charge of being under the influence of a controlled substance will be dismissed, the Los Angeles District Attorney's office said.

Adler was arrested in Los Angeles on July 18, after someone called police to report he was causing a disturbance.

He appeared this year on the reality television show "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew" during an earlier attempt to get off drugs.

Snoop Gets Charged

After his second run-in with airport cops in a month, Snoop Dogg might want to consider pulling a Madden and traveling by bus from now on. Snoop (real name Calvin Broadus) was arrested at the Bob Hope Airport in Burbank, California, on Thursday afternoon on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a gun and of transporting marijuana, according to Sergeant Brian Llewellyn of the Burbank Police Department.

Snoop was arrested at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday after officers approached him for an unspecified vehicle code violation in the passenger loading and unloading zone, and then discovered a gun and marijuana in his vehicle. Llewellyn said the arrest report did not specify what kind of gun or what amount of marijuana was found in the car or whether Snoop was traveling alone at the time.

After being booked into the Burbank Police Department jail, Snoop was released at 7:50 p.m. on $35,000 bond. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Los Angeles County Superior Court on December 12.

"There was no basis for this arrest," Snoop's attorney, Donald Etra, said in a statement, according to The Associated Press. "We believe that once this is cleared up, all charges will be dismissed."

The rapper was arrested last month while trying to board a plane at the John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana, California, after he allegedly attempted to bring a collapsible 21-inch police baton onto the aircraft. The Orange County District Attorney's office is still considering charges in that case. A spokesperson for Snoop's label could not be reached for comment at press time.

Always has been.
